Gadolinium oxide insoluble in water, soluble in mineral acids. It is easy to absorb
water and carbon dioxide when expose to the air. Acted with ammonia, to generate
gadolinium hydrate deposits.
Application
Gadolinium Oxide, also called Gadolinia, is used for making optical glass and
gadolinium yttrium garnets which have microwave applications. High purity of
Gadolinium Oxide is used for making phosphors for colour TV tube.
